Penso’s approach to increasing productivity

Penso has developed from a standing start in 2005 to one of the UK’s fastest growing manufacturers, currently employing 250 people. The new facility is another step on the ladder for the engineering consultancy that highlights Penso’s capabilities and position in the industry.

The new automated composite body assembly plant will be a key contributor to improving the UK’s target to increase productivity. Penso is committed to providing the industry with a solution for the increased demand for composites and develops its capabilities ready for the transition to zero emission and autonomous vehicles. It has been highlighted recently that the region is experiencing a slow down in manufacturing; Penso is determined to turn this around.

Michael Collins, Sales and Marketing Director said “Our new automated lightweight composite assembly plant, is really taking shape and already attracting lots of attention. Penso is in a very good position to cater for the industries drive for lighter vehicles to address the CO2 reduction targets”. “Our new facility will be capable of building lightweight vehicle structures and we are already seeing lots of interest from within the UK and overseas.”

The facility will support the developments of the new industry-focused project: Flexible Lightweight Architecture for Volume Applications (FLAVA), supported by the Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC).

Penso is the lead engineering partner of project FLAVA and is working as part of a consortium to enable the UK’s low to medium volume auto sector to implement and integrate carbon composite multi-material flexible modular solutions within Body-in-White structures.
