Penso is committed to developing its own engineers and currently operates one of industry’s best Apprenticeships programmes and Graduate schemes.

  • Apprentice Engineer – Design

    The primary role of theapprentice  shall be the undertaking of a variety of tasks to assist the Engineering team in its primary business which is the delivery and design of a commodity in line with customer requirements. This will include the following tasks among others and will be complimented with training to be able to perform the tasks:-

    • Carry out tasks to support the Engineering teams
    • Support the coordination and facilitation of engineering meetings
    • Data management – ensuring that design and development documentation according to PQMS is kept up to date
    • Generate documents required in the design and development process as set out in PQMS
    • Design work using CAD (with training)
    • Preparation of reports and presentation material for internal reviews
    • Assist Principal Engineers and Lead Engineers in presenting engineering solutions to internal and external customers
    • Communicating with internal customers on a day-to-day basis

    Training

    • PQMS Design and Development process and documentation
    • CAD techniques
    • CAD Best Practice
      • Correct CAD Methods and management
    • Problem solving
    • The candidate will be expected to attend college to work towards further qualifications HNC/HND
    • Experience of all aspects of an engineering business will be provided

    Experience and Qualification

    ESSENTIAL:

    • 5 GCSEs grades A-C or NVQ in Mathematics, English and preferably at least one science or Engineering
    • Good numeracy and problem solving abilities
    • Ability to work in a supporting role within a project team.
    • Ability to work in isolation with minimum direction

    DESIRABLE:

    • Experience in using Microsoft Office software
    • Interest in Engineering and Vehicles
    • CAD knowledge

  • Apprentice Engineer – Manufacturing

    The primary role of the apprentice shall be the undertaking of a variety of tasks to assist the Manufacturing Engineering team in its primary business which is the delivery and design of a commodity in line with customer requirements. This will include the following tasks among others and will be complimented with training to be able to perform the tasks:-

    • Carry out tasks to support the Manufacturing Engineering teams
    • Support the coordination and facilitation of engineering meetings
